The most durable and, as yet, the most successful attempt to gain an empirical understanding of changed values and, with them, of the changes in political activation is Inglehart's concept of post-materialism. Although little is known of the development of post-materialistic values in Switzerland, this gap should be filled by the present contribution, which evaluates data from the 1970s up to 1989 and 1990.
